Not so Tiktok star Lydia Keating. She is delighted with our country.

“Shame on you that your country is so expensive,” rages German influencer Fibii (18) on Tiktok. And pop singer Robbie Williams (50) also turned his back on Switzerland some time ago. Not because of the prices. “Switzerland is too boring,” was his opinion of our country.

You could almost think that all celebrities and influencers have a bad opinion of Switzerland. But that is not the case. US influencer Lydia Keating (29) proves this. She has 1.7 million followers on TikTok alone.

Even the alleyways are beautiful in Switzerland

In a video on TikTok, the social media star raves about the cleanliness of Zurich. The trottoire and underpasses are extremely clean, says the US-American. “You could lick them!”

The 29-year-old would be amazed: even chewing gum is removed from the streets.

The Swiss look funny

She then turns to the topic of safety. Lydia is surprised that people in Switzerland don’t secure their bikes with a lock and aren’t afraid of them being stolen.

Unlike her influencer colleagues, she has almost nothing to complain about. There was only one thing that embarrassed the influencer: the looks from other people on the street. But she has now got used to it. She thought people would stare at her, but the “Swiss-German look” was completely normal. In the USA, people ignore each other and don’t look at each other. Things are different in Switzerland.

https://www.tiktok.com/embed/v2/7345111857075621163?lang=en-US=https%3A%2F%2Fswissmade.direct%2Fblog%2Fus-tourist-cant-believe-how-great-switzerland-is%2F=oembed

It was only at the beginning of January that a video went viral in which a Tiktoker rants about a visit to a Swiss McDonald’s. “We paid almost 50 euros for two menus. Is that okay?” the young woman says angrily. “I would have expected someone to put this in my mouth and massage my feet.” Lydia’s positive view of Switzerland, on the other hand, is a welcome change.

A few words about the Swiss

First of all, the Swiss are known for their discretion and restraint. But don’t be fooled! Behind these neutral faces lies an enormous curiosity. Imagine you’re like an unexpected piece of chocolate in an already very tasty cake – of course people are going to take a look!

Switzerland is also a country of diversity and precision, from watches to chocolate, which is also reflected in its fashion. So if you turn up in an outfit that screams “Made somewhere else”, you’re sure to attract a few glances. It’s like walking through a sea of pastel shades in neon colors – striking, fascinating and a little mysterious!

But don’t worry, it’s mainly a mixture of admiration and curiosity. The Swiss value quality and individuality, so maybe they’ll try to copy some of your unique style!

And finally, Switzerland is small and in some areas you rarely see international visitors. They are like a walking window to the world and who wouldn’t want to take a quick look inside?

So the next time you’re subjected to the scrutinizing gaze of the Swiss, just smile back and think: “I’m here to up the style factor!” Who knows, maybe you will set the next big fashion trend in the Alps.

Influencers repeatedly complain about the expensive prices in Switzerland after visiting the country.
